| PERFORMANCE NUTRITIONMost of what we're told about nutrition is a complete lie!The rest is only partially true, at best. Whether your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, improved healthy, or improved performance, the overwhelming majority of your diet should be the same. When you're planning your diet, you need to consider these things: 1) Total caloric (energy) intake Whether you want to lose weight or gain weight, you need to know how many calories you take in to maintain your body weight before you can add or subtract from this intake to meet your training goals. 2) Caloric composition The idea that most people should be eating a diet consisting of 60%+ of carbohydrates is completely ludicrous and likely part of the reason for the drastic increase in Type II Diabetes in the U.S. over the last decade. Most people aren't taking in way too much simple carbohydrates, and not nearly enough QUALITY protein and fats. Most people aren't aware of the fact that eating a diet high in high-quality fats will actually INCREASE fat loss! On top of these things, it is important to make sure you're getting sufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals through a consistent, wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and legumes. 3) Nutrient timing Your body tolerates certain macronutrients (i.e. protein, carbohydrates, fats) during certain times of the day and before/after activity (training sessions, sport practices, etc.). Even if you ate the same exact foods in the same amounts, changing WHEN you eat them could make a profound difference on your health and body composition. 4) Daily amount of high intensity activity Your caloric intake and carbohydrate intake should be altered based on the amount of high intensity activity you perform on any given day. If you aren't very active, you don't need to take in a lot of carbohydrates or calories. If you're extremely active, it's important you take in quality carbohydrates at the right times to facilitate recovery and maximize your training results. Endeavor is committed to providing our clients with the best training services available. However, it would be incredibly negligent of us if we didn't acknowledge the role of diet and nutrition in helping our clients (you!) get better results. This is why Endeavor has teamed up with Muscle Maker Grill in Washington Township, NJ. When it comes to nutrition for health AND performance, the people at Muscle Maker really get it. Not only does everything on their menu taste good (which can't be said of most so-called "health food"), but they have a wide variety of options to meet the four nutritional considerations above, including low and high calorie meals; meals with QUALITY carbohydrates, fats, and proteins; low carbohydrate meals (which are phenomenal for stimulating fat loss!); shakes with rapidly digesting carbohydrates and proteins (to help stimulate muscle gain and recovery after a training session); and a ton of vegetables and legumes to ensure optimal vitamin and mineral intake. As a staff, Endeavor also admires Muscle Maker Grill's dedication to customer service.
